The Swiss climber Tomas Smit, contacted me and announced that comes to Cuba with a drill 36 Volt Compact Boschhammer of new generation, for Cuba climbers. The news tremendously well received, because we only had a drill on the island of the same brand and donated by Armando Menocal of the United States of America.

Thomas came accompanied by the Canadian Marchal. His goal was to climb and equip with local industry to test a new machine and also use Mammut bolts.

6 routes were opened in the area of Palenque. To go to the place which is about 5km, You have to take a taxi on the road to Puerto Esperanza and arrive at Palenque de los Cimarrones. You skirt the road to the right of the cave by José Miguel and reach the other side of the mountain, is a sector that is on the left, with a high palm in the middle, facing north, shade all, with good rock quality. Long ruffle or yellow tuff, hard and tough, with some crash is the keynote of the exquisite wall. Characterized by an escalation of resistance and strength.

Name of Sector: Orishas

Melisa Bilodu. 6b + / 6c, 35m, 4 stars.
Openings: Yarobys García and Jorge Luis (Tito) 12/14/2010
Description: Fourth Line, which is defined by the right of a ruffle yellow and some orange and left a big stalactite. The hardest part of the track is the final collapse and turning on the right. Should climb with 70m ropes.

Machete.
6b +, 28m, 3 stars.
Openings: Yarobys García and Jorge Luis (Tito) 12/12/2010
Description: Just right of the large stalactites which are in the right base of the sector, the route begins. Large gaps well protected. To equip the sector had to cut with a machete a curtain of vines covering most of the wall, being totally clean.

The more Linda. 6b +, 28m, 5 stars.
Openings: Jorge Luis (Tito) and Yarobys García. 12/12/2010.
Description: Use the first two bolts of Machete to the right of large stalactites. A path of resistance and continuity, Climbing makes you think about how these frills grab that seem to be leaving, but that are resistant. The crux is after the 5th bolt. A climb to enjoy the texture of the frills of Viñales.

This grant will consolidate the solidarity between the climbers of the world, mountain equipment companies and those with little follow this sport forward. This relationship has enabled the development of climbing in the largest of the Antilles and in Cuba there are now over 350 tracks spread across several provinces. This time thanks to Mammut, and Tomas Smit for collaborating with the Cuban climbing.

Me alegro mucho que nuestros escaladores puedan llevar adelante sus proyectos con este tipo de ayuda, de lo contrario seria imposible...

muchas gracias Mammut.
